For the last 18 years Mark served as the founding Director of the Australian Research Centre for Urban Ecology. He has also held honorary positions at the Global Institute for Urban and Regional Sustainability (GIURS) at East China Normal University in Shanghai, China and the School of Design and Environment at the National University of SingaporeHis research involves bringing high-quality ecological data and the understanding of basic ecological processes to bear on problems of conservation and management of urban ecosystems. He has conducted pioneering research on the study of urban-rural gradients and the comparative ecology of cities and towns around the globe. He has authored or co-authored over 150 scientific papers, reviews, book chapters, reports and articles, and has published two edited books on urban ecology. In 2015, he was appointed the inaugural Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Urban Ecology which is an Open Access journal published by Oxford University Press. He also serves on the Advisory Council of the journal Urban Ecosystems, the Advisory Board of the journal CityGreen published by the National Parks Board, Singapore and on the editorial board of Urban Naturalist. He previously served on the editorial boards of Landscape and Urban Planning as well as Ecological Management and Restoration.

Dr. Jingjing Liang obtained his PhD from University of Wisconsin-Madison and Bachelor of Science from Peking University. He is now an Associate Professor at West Virginia University, and is also an Affiliate Professor with three institutes in Canada and Spain. Dr. Liang is the leading coordinator of the Global Forest Biodiversity Initiative, one of the largest international forest research team. Dr. Liang's research is focused on biodiversity and forest ecosystems. His recent publications on Science, PNAS, and Conservation Biology address global scale issues of biodiversity conservation and its socio-economic impacts. He is the invited and plenary speakers of several international conference and workshops, including 2017 Conference of International Society Of Forest Resource Economics.

Dr. Jiangxiao Qiu jointed the School of Forest Resources & Conservation in 2017. He is primarily interested in landscape ecology, ecosystem ecology, global change ecology, conservation biology, and sustainability science. His overarching research goal is to understand and predict how global environmental changes alter ecosystems and biodiversity at regional to global scales, and their consequences for a range of ecosystem services (benefits people obtain from nature such as food, water, climate and flood regulation, erosion control, and recreation) that underpins human well-being. His research takes an interdisciplinary approach integrating field observation and experiment, biophysical simulation models, remote sensing, landscape analysis, data synthesis, and social sciences to address basic and applied research questions across a range of spatial and temporal scales. Previously, he has worked in the agricultural landscapes in the Midwest, and currently he also becomes interested in the sustainability and resilience of coastal ecosystem services in a changing climate such as sea level rise.
